Violence familiale à Touba : la nouvelle épouse du père prise pour cible
A case of domestic violence was heard this Friday by the Diourbel court of summary jurisdiction. The events took place in Touba, in the Darou Marnane neighborhood, at the home of N. Ndiaye, who recently became the third wife of an emigrant returning from France.
Firmly opposed to this new union, the husband's five children, according to L'Observateur, launched a veritable nighttime punitive expedition. After smashing through the glass gate, the siblings forced their way into the apartment, where they brutalized the new wife, two of her friends, and their own father. Elderly and ill, the father was unable to resist before being forced to leave and forcibly returned to the family home.
The assailants made off with several mobile phones, 1.75 million CFA francs, and a large quantity of household appliances. The victim subsequently obtained a medical certificate attesting to a seven-day period of temporary incapacity for work (ITT) before filing a complaint.
During the investigation, the same source continued, the defendants attempted to minimize their responsibility, with one of the sons blaming his brother for the broken door, while the sister swore she had remained outside during the assault. For his part, the father, D. Gaye, begged investigators to return his passport so he could go back to France for medical treatment.
Tried for trespassing, destruction of property, assault and battery, robbery with violence, and conspiracy, the five children were ultimately found guilty by the court. They received sentences ranging from two months' imprisonment to suspended sentences, and will have to jointly pay one million euros in damages to their stepmother, reports the newspaper of the Future Media Group.
