WAAJAL XALE YI : le Sénégal mobilise l’école et l’armée pour former des citoyens engagés

Senegal has launched "WAAJAL XALE YI," a unique program bringing together the Armed Forces and the Ministry of National Education to strengthen the civic engagement of high school students.

Designed around the values of duty, solidarity, and civic participation, the program combines community service, community walks, and awareness sessions. The pilot phase, which covers the entire country, will run until December 15, 2025.

This initiative reflects the State's desire to bring young people closer to institutions, to involve them in a dynamic of active citizenship and to make this learning a lever for social cohesion and sustainable development.

It also illustrates the "Army-Nation" approach, where education and defense converge to train generations aware of their civic responsibilities.
