Warang : 53 migrants interpellés dans un domicile par la Gendarmerie
The Nianing local police brigade, under the jurisdiction of the Mbour gendarmerie company, apprehended 53 individuals attempting to emigrate illegally in the early hours of December 1st, around 3:00 AM. Among them were 4 Guineans and 49 Senegalese, according to Seneweb sources.
It all started with a tip-off about a group of migrants in the village of Warang. Following up on this information, the gendarmes were able to locate the house where the would-be migrants were staying while awaiting their departure. Around 3 a.m., a raid was carried out at the indicated residence.
During the operation, the 53 migrants were apprehended, along with one of the suspected organizers, identified by the initials VS. He attempted to exonerate himself by claiming he was merely a caretaker. He maintains he received 200,000 CFA francs from a certain A., who allegedly asked him to guard these individuals in the house he manages.
For their part, the migrants stated that they had handed over their money to two people, named AM and ON, without providing further details.
An investigation has been launched to find the rest of the network involved in this migrant trafficking.
