Yeumbeul Sud : un lutteur arrêté pour viol
Khadim Dieng, also known as "Garga," a 36-year-old professional wrestler and bricklayer, is currently in police custody at the Yeumbeul Sud police station. Libération reveals that he is accused of repeated sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl.
It all started with a complaint filed by the victim's mother, A. Niang. The newspaper notes, however, that the procedure nearly failed: fearing reprisals from the wrestler, considered dangerous and feared in the Mbawor neighborhood, the complainant hesitated to have the medical examinations carried out. It took the insistence of community leaders and the guarantee of police assistance for the young girl to finally be taken to the Yeumbeul health center on December 17th.
The results are damning: the medical certificate reports multiple hymenal tears and vulvovaginal gaping, thus confirming the violence and repeated nature of the abuse. The victim claims to have been raped three times in three different locations.
Arrested on Tuesday, the suspect denied the charges during questioning, but failed to convince investigators. The investigation is ongoing.
