Yeumbeul-Sud : Un soudeur et un chauffeur poignardés, deux frères sauvés in extremis d'un lynchage
A scene of violence almost turned into a tragedy yesterday, Tuesday, in the Medina Yeumbeul district where two brothers were saved from the wrath of the people.
The Yeumbeul South police station was alerted around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, to a fight in the Medina Yeumbeul neighborhood, with an imminent risk of lynching. Police officers immediately went to the scene. There, members of the investigation unit discovered two individuals, AT Gaye and his brother H. Gaye, being attacked by an angry mob. The swift intervention of law enforcement prevented a more serious outcome.
According to eyewitness accounts, it all started with a fight. AT Gaye, armed with a knife, allegedly injured welder G. Sylla, 32, and driver A. Thiam, 38, according to Seneweb sources. In retaliation, residents of the neighborhood rushed AT Gaye and his brother H. Gaye, who had come to his aid. But thanks to the swift intervention of Lieutenant Sow's men, the worst was avoided. The two brothers, although injured by the blows they received, were taken to the police station before being transported to the hospital for treatment.
As for those injured by the knife, they were taken to the hospital by their families. A. Thiam was treated at the Yeumbeul health center, while G. Sylla, who was more seriously injured, was transferred to Fann Hospital.
After receiving the necessary medical treatment, AT Gaye was taken into custody. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of this incident, which nearly cost the two Gaye brothers their lives.
