Yeumbeul : Un chauffeur de "taxi-clando" tente de corrompre un policier avec 1 000 F CFA avant de le violenter avec son complice
The Yeumbeul-Comico district police station detained two individuals on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, for insulting a police officer, violence and assault, attempted bribery, threats, and slander. The suspects were arrested by Police Brigadier S. Biaye, assisted by the commander of the urban police force.
They are Mr. Ngaido, 25 years old, an unlicensed taxi driver residing in Tivaouane Peulh, and D. Fall, 42 years old, an electrician residing in Apix.
According to the brigadier's report, while he was regularly assigned to carry out a traffic regulation mission on the Mbed Fass axis, he spotted the first-named man from afar driving an "unlicensed" vehicle, traveling at high speed.
To avoid endangering other road users, the officer ordered him to stop. But the driver had great difficulty bringing his vehicle to a halt due to his excessive speed. The officer then moved to avoid being hit.
Attempted bribery and first incident
After the vehicle was stopped, the officer asked the driver to present the documents relating to the driving of his vehicle and notified him of the offences of dangerous driving and endangering the lives of others.
Instead of complying, Mr. Ngaido attempted to bribe the officer with a 1,000 CFA franc note, which the officer refused. The driver then made insulting remarks, shoved the officer, and tried to forcibly take back the administrative documents.
During this physical exchange, the driver not only struck the officer, but continued to hurl insults, under the pretext of evacuating a sick person.
Intervention of the accomplice
It was at this point that D. Fall, holding a large rock, intervened, hurling threats and insults. He even went so far as to accuse the officer of stealing 100,000 CFA francs before retracting his statement, according to Seneweb sources.
The driver attempted to flee before being apprehended by the police officer with the assistance of a colleague from the Yeumbeul police station. Both individuals were then subdued and taken into custody.
After brief questioning, they readily admitted to the acts and offered profuse apologies. They were taken into custody. Prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office, was notified and an investigation has been opened.
