Ziguinchor : La DER/J lance les journées de promotion de l’entrepreneuriat de la zone Sud
The Director General of the General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Youth (DER/FJ), Dr. Aïda Mbodj, accompanied by the Deputy Governor in charge of development for Ziguinchor, presided over the entrepreneurship promotion days for the southern region. Two days to celebrate the power of ideas, local ingenuity, and the strength of collective work, according to the Director General of the DER/FJ.
According to Aïda Mbodj, these events are designed to support, guide, and promote entrepreneurial initiatives throughout Senegal, with a particular focus on rural areas. "The entrepreneurship promotion days in the Southern region reflect our commitment to building an inclusive economy, driven by local talent and supported by a strong and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem."
These days are in line with the perspective of the National Transformation Agenda Senegal 2050, a vision championed by the President of the Republic, Diomaye Faye, and implemented under the coordination of the Prime Minister.
Initiatives in favor of peace in Casamance
“At DER/FJ, we work closely with local communities to stimulate local value creation and promote the sustainability of entrepreneurial initiatives,” explained its director general. In the southern region, this national ambition is being realized through the Diomaye Plan for Casamance. This plan serves as the government’s roadmap for revitalizing the region’s development after decades of conflict and marginalization.
"It promotes the return of displaced populations, the reconstruction of infrastructure, and the economic empowerment of youth and women through agriculture, livestock farming, the processing of local products, and support for endogenous, innovative, and sustainable entrepreneurship rooted in our realities, inspired by our traditions, but oriented towards the future," emphasized Ms. Mbodj. In this regard, she called for a lasting peace in this part of the country, in order to meet the challenges of development.
Over 13.1 billion injected
The results of the DER/FJ in the south of the country speak for themselves. According to figures provided by Aida Mbodj, more than 13.1 billion CFA francs have been invested in projects led by over 8,700 young people and women in Ziguinchor, Sédhiou, and Kolda. This is in addition to co-financing and guarantees provided in partnership with financial institutions. Furthermore, over 6,000 women have been trained in food processing, soap making, dyeing, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship, not to mention the training of hundreds of micro-enterprises connected to new markets.
According to the deputy governor in charge of development, Alsény Bangoura, "these days offer a framework for exchange, sharing of experience and promotion of local initiatives across all professions. They demonstrate the government's commitment to making entrepreneurship a powerful lever for economic and social development, particularly in the southern zone, which is rich in human, natural and cultural potential."
Through this meeting, the DRF/J reinforces its mission to promote women's and youth entrepreneurship, to promote the creation of sustainable jobs and to support innovation, concluded Alsény Bangoura.
