Ziguinchor : La zone militaire n°5 lance les activités préparatoires de la Journée des forces armées
On November 10th, the Senegalese armed forces will celebrate their day under the banner of the military's contribution to the organization of the Dakar-2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG). In Ziguinchor, military zone no. 5 launched an Olympic tournament yesterday at the Aline Sitoé Diatta stadium under the theme "The contribution of the armed forces to the organization of the Dakar-2026 Youth Olympic Games".
For the zone commander, one aspect is to "show the ability of the armed forces to support the organization of the Youth Olympic Games, ensuring that they are secure Games, taking place in the best conditions, but also supporting young people so that their participation is a success."
Colonel Cheikh Guèye reiterated the armed forces' capacity to ensure the security of the Youth Olympic Games activities through their organization and resources, and to guarantee that the Games take place under the best possible conditions. "The armed forces possess logistical capabilities that also allow them to support our Youth Olympic Games organizing committees through transportation, storage, securing facilities, and providing facilities, not to mention medical support," stated the commander of Zone 5.
Furthermore, he stated that the armed forces could contribute to the training and supervision of all participants or those who will be involved in the organization of these Youth Olympic Games.
This Olympic tournament will be an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between the defense and security forces (FDS). Fraternity and a spirit of communion with the local population will be paramount, in line with the Army-Nation concept, with the organization of a hike on November 8th, which will bring together key stakeholders from the region, the FDS, and civilians, stated Colonel Cheikh Guèye.
