Ziguinchor : L’armée rend hommage à ses morts en cette fête de la Toussaint
On Saturday, November 1st , administrative, civil, and military authorities conducted memorial ceremonies at various sites to honor the men who fell on the battlefield defending their homeland. This ceremony also served as an opportunity to pay tribute to all those who have left their mark on the nation's history through courage, selflessness, and dedication.
The Governor of the region Mor Talla Tine, accompanied by the Commander of Military Zone No. 5 South, Colonel Cheikh Gueye, the Commander of the Southern Legion of the Gendarmerie, Colonel Papa Saboury Ndiaye, veterans, administrative and local authorities, as well as heads of service, all together went to the war memorial before continuing their journey to some cemeteries in the municipality of Ziguinchor.
The head of the regional executive praised the bravery of the defense and security forces who fell with full honors on the battlefields defending the nation's territorial integrity. For the Governor of the Ziguinchor region, Mor Talla Tine, the commitment of these valiant soldiers and sons of the nation remains a source of pride and motivation for current generations.
Mor Talla Tine urged his colleagues and the heads of state services to continue their commitment to serving the people and to strengthen national cohesion through public action close to the citizens.
"We remember with respect and gratitude our valiant predecessors who, through their works, contributed to the building of our country. Their efforts, sometimes to the point of supreme sacrifice, should inspire us and encourage us to remain attentive to the people, in order to better respond to their concerns," the Governor delivered as a message.
Prayers were offered for the repose of souls, and for God's mercy on all the deceased invoked, and for the honors of an entire nation to be bestowed upon these valiant men.
