Officials at the Ziguinchor bus station have launched a digital ticketing system to improve efficiency. This will enhance the security of passengers' luggage, minimizing losses, and will also make it easier for drivers to identify all types of luggage during roadside checks.

Prior to this, the various stakeholders were made aware of the digitalization process. The president of the Ziguinchor bus station, Papis Touré, seizing this opportunity, called on all his fellow transport operators to join forces. "Anyone who wants to move forward must accept these machines. They do not hinder the development of the work carried out within the station; quite the opposite," he explained.

According to him, digitization provides greater security for both customers and drivers. "A customer who loses their luggage can easily find it with their ticket. They simply need to call customer service and have all the information about the vehicle and the driver who transported it. Furthermore, the driver is protected in case of luggage issues during roadside checks. Owner identification can be done automatically," he continued.

Papis Touré also explained the contract drawn up as part of this digitalization campaign with the company involved and the methods of termination in case of non-compliance with commitments, as well as the possibilities of renegotiation when renewing the lease.

Amadou Touba Coly, representing the mayor at the meeting, praised the initiative of the president of the Ziguinchor bus station, who took the lead. "He didn't wait for the government to implement digitization. He didn't wait for the Ministry of Land Transport to roll out this digitization. He created it before the government," said Mr. Coly, who called on all stakeholders at the Ziguinchor bus station to unite.

The municipal representative also called on the state to support the bus station in its modernization process. He then advocated for road repairs and public lighting, stating that the town hall is working with limited resources.
