15ᵉ édition de l’Open international de golf : Ecobank soutient le grand retour du golf au Sénégal et mise sur son potentiel économique

Dakar, December 3, 2025 – Ecobank Senegal announces its partnership with the 15th edition of the Senegal International Golf Open, which will take place from December 3 to 7, 2025, in Saly and Dakar. Held under the auspices of the Ministries of Sports and Tourism, the tournament will bring together professional and amateur golfers from diverse backgrounds in a spirit of competition, excellence, and sportsmanship. By becoming an official partner of this open, Ecobank Senegal aims to support the revival of a sport and an industry whose economic potential is proven in many countries.

This event marks the long-awaited return of golf to Senegal after several years of absence, as highlighted by the Senegalese Golf Federation: "It is with immense pride and a profound sense of renewal that the Senegalese Golf Federation announces the long-awaited return of the Senegal International Open."

Golf: an economic driver beyond sport

Golf attracts a clientele of executives, entrepreneurs and investors who contribute directly to economic dynamism and the diversification of the tourism offer.

Developing a quality golf offering leads to positive outcomes: tourism revenue, job creation, investments in hotels, real estate and services, as well as a strengthening of international influence.

A showcase for the Senegalese economy

This 15th Senegal International Open is presented as a sporting, touristic, and cultural showcase, aiming to position the country as a leading golfing destination in Africa. The competition boasts substantial prize money and is part of a national strategy: modernizing infrastructure, training young talent, promoting school golf, and integrating Senegal into major African and international circuits.

Beyond the sporting aspect, the Open aims to boost the local economy by attracting visitors, encouraging investment in facilities and stimulating related sectors (hotels, restaurants, transport, real estate, etc.).

For Sahid Yallou, Managing Director of Ecobank Senegal, “ the return of golf to Senegal is a unique opportunity to showcase the country’s hospitality (Teranga) and economic dynamism. By partnering with this event, we aim to support the emergence of a new tourism and sports sector, foster connections between decision-makers, and promote Senegal’s image internationally. This approach aligns with our role as a pan-African bank: supporting growth-generating initiatives, encouraging investment, assisting our clients in managing their wealth and assets, and actively contributing to the sustainable development of the economies where we operate.

This partnership will allow Ecobank Senegal to offer its expertise in financial services to players in the sector (wealth management, cash management, infrastructure financing, investment solutions) and to support entrepreneurs, investors and individual clients who will see new opportunities for value creation in this sector.

Through its pan-African platform, the Ecobank Group is also mobilizing its network to promote trade, attract investors and encourage regional tourism.

Du golf dans un pays ultra pauvre. Laissez moi rire. En plus pas du tout écologique, un terrain de golf demande beaucoup trop d'eau.
