Accusation de dopage : Le lutteur Siteu blanchi par le TAS
The doping story surrounding wrestler Siteu came to an end on March 23, 2026. In a highly anticipated ruling, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), sitting in Lausanne, simply overturned the two-year suspension imposed on the Senegalese wrestler, according to a statement from his lawyers, Seydou Diagne of the Dakar bar and Yvan Henzer of the Lausanne bar.
Pronounced on June 27, 2025 by the Regional Anti-Doping Organization Africa Zone II & III, this sanction was based on a test carried out on November 24, 2024. But from the first phases of the procedure, the defense of the Serer champion "Tarkinda" had denounced major irregularities in the conduct of this test.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), having already been seized of the matter as a matter of urgency, initially granted provisional measures in favor of Siteu. This allowed him to fight Balla Gaye 2 on July 20, 2025. The wrestler from Lansar won this bout resoundingly, strengthening his sporting position despite the legal uncertainty.
On the merits, the international arbitration tribunal ultimately ruled in favor of the applicant. It acknowledged that the doping control that led to the sanction had not been carried out in accordance with the required standards. This substantial irregularity resulted in the outright annulment of the suspension.
For Siteu's legal team, this decision represents a significant victory, extending beyond the individual case. "It is always extremely difficult to establish that anti-doping authorities don't always do things properly," emphasized Yvan Henzer. His Senegalese colleague, Seydou Diagne, who oversaw the case, reiterated: "The rules must be respected by everyone, including sports institutions." With this final ruling, "Tarkinda" is now completely cleared of all doping charges.
