AfroBasket 2025: Boissy, la fierté des Lions après la qualification en demi-finale
Senegal confirmed their status as title contenders by defeating Nigeria (91-75) this Wednesday at the Arena do Kilamba in Luanda, Angola. Solid as a team and focused on defense, the Lions booked their place in the semifinals of AfroBasket 2025, where they will face a familiar opponent: Mali.
After the victory, Jean Jacques Boissy shared his thoughts. "We were hungry, focused on defense and team play. For me, it was also a form of revenge. Not personal, but revenge for our girls after their defeat against Nigeria," the point guard said.
The player, lucid, reminds us that this qualification is only a step. "We didn't come for the semi-finals. Now we have to think about Mali. We've played them often, even at youth level. In 2018, we faced them in the final of the U18 AFCON. It's always special. We're going to savor the moment, but above all, give everything to win."
A BAL champion with Al Ahly Tripoli, Boissy emphasizes the difference it makes when he wears the national jersey. "Winning the BAL made me happy, but representing Senegal is my greatest pride. Senegal means everything to me."
Aware that the Lions can still raise their level, he remains confident: "We are not yet at our best, neither defensively nor offensively. But we will continue to improve."
Finally, he sent a message to the fans: "The future of Senegalese basketball is bright. We ask everyone to stay positive, pray for us, and continue to support us. Inshallah, we will bring the cup home."
