AfroBasket 2025: Brancou Badio et Moustapha Diop racontent la fierté du bronze avec le Sénégal
Senegal leaves Luanda with a medal around its neck. On Sunday, the Lions of Teranga crushed Cameroon (98-72) to claim bronze at AfroBasket 2025. But beyond the score, it's the players' words that best convey the significance of this result.
Captain and driving force of the group, Brancou Badio told Seneweb how he felt after this collective reaction: "The semi-final was difficult to digest, but we came to play, fight and take 3rd place. Thank God, we succeeded. Representing Senegal is an honor," he explained.
Badio also sent a strong message to young players who dream of one day wearing the national jersey: "Never give up. Work hard, listen to your coaches and always study the game. Even we remain students of basketball."
For his teammate Moustapha Diop, this medal is above all the culmination of a human adventure:
"We're happy, it's not given to everyone. Out of sixteen teams, God chose us for third place. We're a real family. Representing the colors of Senegal is indescribable," he declared with emotion.
He did not forget to give advice to the younger generation: "Work hard every day, continue your studies and respect your parents too."
These testimonies show that for the Lions, bronze has a significance that goes beyond the podium. It is proof of their solidarity and national pride, a milestone that already propels them toward future challenges, including World Cup qualification.
With the voice of their leaders, Senegal is sending a clear message: the future of Senegalese basketball remains ambitious.
