Basketball African League : Les RSSB Tigers du Rwanda sacrés
In their first participation in the Basketball African League (BAL), the RSSB Tigers of Rwanda caused a surprise by winning the title against Petro of Luanda (90-88), at the end of a spectacular and unpredictable final.
The curtains have fallen on the 6th edition of the Basketball African League (BAL). The RSSB Tigers of Rwanda were crowned champions by defeating Petro of Luanda (90-88) after a thrilling final, during which the Rwandans staged a remarkable comeback.
Indeed, the Angolan team Petro de Luanda, led by Abou Gackou (28 points), started the game well and quickly took control, with an impressive start to the first quarter (20-0). But the Rwandans, spurred on by their home crowd, managed to close the gap by the end of the first quarter (27-16).
Stunning Rwandans
In the second quarter, the Rwandans, led by Craig Randall (33 points), completely turned the game around, winning the second quarter 42-37. They thus went into halftime with a five-point lead.
Upon returning to the court, the RSSB Tigers displayed the same determination. Despite a strong resistance from the Angolans, the Rwandans narrowly won the third quarter (61-59).
The suspense remained high until the very end of the final quarter. But the Rwandans managed to maintain their lead and ultimately won 90-88.
For their first participation, the RSSB Tigers therefore win the 6th edition of the BAL and succeed the Libyans of Al Ahly of Tripoli.
