Burkina Faso : Décès de Nabaloum Dramane, l'ancien champion d’Afrique de boxe
Former Burkinabe boxer Nabaloum Dramane, known as Boum-Boum, multiple African champion and iconic figure of the noble art, died in Ouagadougou on the night of January 15, 2026, at the age of 58. An icon of the featherweight division in the 1990s, he left his mark on the history of Burkinabe and African boxing with his power and style.
A multiple champion on the continent, Boum-Boum also shone on the international stage, winning a WBC world title and facing renowned boxers from various backgrounds. His fights rarely went the distance.
At the peak of his career, he had been honored by the authorities, notably after his KO victory in the 6th round against Nigerian Joe Orewa in 1994.
After his retirement from sports, the former champion fell into oblivion, physically weakened, leaving behind the memory of an exceptional career that brought glory to Burkina Faso.
