CAN-2025 : Blessé avec PSG, Ashraf Hakimi plonge le Maroc dans l’inquiétude
Morocco is holding its breath. After being tackled hard by Luis Diaz during the Champions League clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich (1-2), Ashraf Hakimi left the pitch at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, supported by crutches, in tears. A major blow for PSG… but especially for the Moroccan national team, just weeks before the Africa Cup of Nations, which the country will host from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
A key player in Walid Regragui's system, the 26-year-old right-back (88 caps, 11 goals) is considered one of the Atlas Lions' main assets in their quest for a continental title on home soil. However, the player's health is causing serious concern in the Moroccan press, as his absence is estimated to last between three and five weeks.
"It's a shock for the whole country. Ashraf Hakimi isn't just a key player, he embodies the hope of a Morocco that will become African champions," writes "L'Opinion," highlighting "a climate of pessimism" surrounding the Parisian's health. For its part, "360 Sport" asks: "Will Walid Regragui be able to count on his best player for the AFCON?" "Al Mountakhab," meanwhile, describes a "horrible scene" and prays that the former Real Madrid player "won't be sidelined for too long."
While awaiting the results of Wednesday's medical examinations, the whole country is trembling at the thought of having to start "its" AFCON without its captain and undisputed leader.
