CAN 2027 : la CAF dévoile un tirage préliminaire riche en affiches régionales

While the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is currently in full swing in Morocco, with highly anticipated semi-finals scheduled for this Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already turned its attention to the future. The governing body of African football conducted the draw for the preliminary round of qualifiers for the 2027 AFCON, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, on Tuesday.

This first round involves the twelve lowest-ranked nations in the latest FIFA rankings. Following these two-legged ties, only six countries will secure their place to join the 42 other teams already qualified for the group stage of the qualifiers.

The draw produced several matches with strong regional ties, promising some hard-fought encounters. In Southern Africa, the Seychelles will face Lesotho in an all-sub-regional clash. In East Africa, Djibouti will host South Sudan for the first leg of their two-legged tie.

Chad will host Burundi, while Somalia will try to take advantage of home ground against Mauritius. Eritrea will face Eswatini, and São Tomé and Príncipe will take on Ethiopia at home in the first round of matches.

These matches will take place during the next FIFA international window, scheduled from March 25 to 31, 2026. A crucial event for these teams seeking a place among the continental elite.

It's worth noting that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will mark a major first in the competition's history, as it will be jointly hosted by three countries: Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This unprecedented co-hosting arrangement symbolizes CAF's commitment to expanding the reach of African football across the continent.

La derniere phrase c’est pas la verite. Ces pays ne sont pas a meme d’organiser la CAN moderne a eux seuls tout comme le Senegal. Le vrai message de cette can au Maroc est que nos pays ont ete devance par le Maroc de tres loin meme si en 1960 le Senegal etait plus developpe que le Maroc
