CAN féminine 2026 : De nouvelles dates évoquées pour le tournoi
Uncertainty persists regarding the organization of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, initially scheduled to take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026 in Morocco.
While the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has still not officially announced a possible postponement, new dates are starting to circulate.
According to Sport News Africa, the continental governing body has already internally approved the postponement of the competition. The tournament could now take place from July 25 to August 16, immediately following the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 11 to July 19. An official announcement from CAF is expected in the coming days.
Furthermore, the identity of the host country remains uncertain. While Morocco is currently the designated candidate, it has withdrawn from hosting the event.
On Wednesday, South African Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie publicly put pressure on Rabat. "If Morocco doesn't want to host the competition, South Africa is ready," he declared, reigniting the debate about a possible change of host country.
In this climate of uncertainty, several figures in African football have denounced a lack of clarity from the governing bodies. Despite this, the national teams are continuing their preparations, as if the tournament were still scheduled to kick off on the originally planned date.
