CAN Maroc-2025 : La Premier League se prépare à un exode massif de joueurs africains

With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicking off in Morocco on December 21st, the English Premier League is preparing for a challenging period. Like the French Ligue 1, the world's most attractive league will be significantly impacted by the departure of numerous African players called up to represent their respective national teams.

It is estimated that more than 30 players will be playing away from English pitches during the competition. This absence could have a significant impact on the performance of several clubs.

Sunderland, the most affected club

With up to seven possible departures, Sunderland appears to be the club most impacted by the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. A real headache for the coaching staff, who will have to thoroughly review their organization and strategy during this busy period of the calendar.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Fulham also involved

Behind Sunderland, several top teams in the league will also have to cope without some of their key players.   Manchester United, Tottenham, and Fulham could each lose three key players. These absences could have a significant impact on their title hopes, European qualification bids, or relegation battles, depending on their ambitions.

Other teams, such as Liverpool, West Ham, Aston Villa, and Brighton, will be deprived of key players in the middle of the season. The challenge will be to maintain the competitiveness of their squads despite these temporary losses.

However, not all clubs will be affected. Arsenal, Leeds United, and Wolverhampton are among the few spared and will be able to continue fielding their full squads during the competition. A significant advantage in a Premier League where every point counts.

Once again, the AFCON highlights the growing impact of African players in Europe and the need for some clubs to anticipate this major event in African football.

Between managing squads, adapting strategies and sporting pressure, the Premier League is preparing to go through several tense weeks.

Karim-Usa ! T'es incohérent. Il fallait plutôt dire que la fifa doit accorder une semaine de vacance à tous les championnats. Soit au milieu ou à la fin de la can pour donner de l'équilibre aux clubs.
