CAN U17 Maroc 2026 : Assane Sarr, le héros des Lionceaux !
Senegal will play in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations final after their stunning victory against host nation Morocco in an incredible match. After a hard-fought contest that ultimately went to penalties, the Young Lions relied on a superb performance from Assane Sarr.
The 15-year-old goalkeeper, captain of Senegal, made several crucial saves before shining in the penalty shootout, stopping four Moroccan attempts, including the decisive one. During the match, he had even initially saved a Moroccan penalty, before the shooter converted on the rebound. The Ndangane FC goalkeeper also converted his own penalty.
A true penalty specialist, the young goalkeeper had already distinguished himself in the group stage against Ghana by saving a penalty that allowed Senegal to get back into the competition.
Already crucial in the penalty shootout against Mali in the quarter-final, Assane Sarr is confirming his immense potential and now carries Senegal to the final against Tanzania. Even though the Young Lions will be without their solid central defender Cheikh Dieng, suspended due to accumulated yellow cards, they can still count on their young goalkeeper as they attempt to secure a second trophy in this age category.
