CAN U17 Maroc-2026 : Ibrahima Dione « Vampire » relance le Sénégal
Having lost their opening match against South Africa (2-1), Senegal were up against it when they faced Ghana on Sunday. And the Young Lions responded well, securing a 1-0 victory over the Ghanaians.
But it was a difficult match for Senegal, especially in the first half. Indeed, Lamine Sané's men were fortunate to have a Ghanaian goal disallowed by VAR early in the game (12th minute).
At the end of the first half, Senegal were reduced to 10 men following the expulsion of El Hadj Ibrahima Sow (41st minute). Immediately afterwards, Ghana were awarded a penalty, but Assane Seck, the Senegalese goalkeeper, saved Isaac Barfo's shot (45th+8 minute).
After a difficult first half, the Young Lions returned from the locker room with more attacking intentions. And on one of their attacks, Ibrahima Dione "Vampire" beat the Ghanaian goalkeeper (58th minute).
Despite a strong Ghanaian push in the final minutes, Senegal managed to maintain their lead and win (1-0).
Senegal has thus relaunched its hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
