Billed as outsiders at the start of the 8th edition of CHAN-2024, the three host countries are shaking up the hierarchy. After the victories of Kenya and Tanzania, respectively leaders of Groups A and B, Uganda also secured a home victory.
The Cranes, who started with a 3-0 defeat to Algeria, have now won two straight games. After beating Guinea 3-0, they won 2-0 against Niger on Monday thanks to goals from Allan Okello (25th) and Sserujogi (54th).
Uganda, which now has (6 pts) leads Group C ahead of Algeria (2nd, 4 pts) and South Africa (3rd, 4 pts).
These performances by the host countries herald an interesting continuation of the tournament.
