Conseil d’un ex-dirigeant du Barça à Yamal : « S’il était mon fils, je lui… »
Despite his undeniable talent, Lamine Yamal (18 years old, 13 matches and 6 goals in all competitions this season) has not yet won everyone over in Catalonia. Some observers criticize his sometimes unprofessional attitude. Among them is Toni Freixa, former director of FC Barcelona, who felt compelled to send a clear message to the young winger.
When interviewed by AS, Freixa offered some firm advice: "If Lamine were my son, I would tell him that he's not as good as people say. He should keep working, not believe everything he hears, and focus solely on football."
The former manager then stressed the need to guide the player while reminding everyone that no one is indispensable to the club:
"I'll be very direct: if Lamine has a problem, he needs help. But if one day that problem becomes unmanageable, it's not a disaster: Barça will keep moving forward. Everyone at the club is just passing through. The most important thing is Barça."
Through these statements, Toni Freixa calls on the young prodigy to keep his feet on the ground and to continue his progress in an environment as demanding as that of FC Barcelona.
