The Confederation of African Football will hold the draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Cairo. The ceremony will take place at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association, where the 48 participating teams will learn their future opponents.
Several former figures of African football will take part in this event. Among the announced guests are Ivorian Max-Alain Gradel, Nigerian William Troost-Ekong, Egyptian Essam El-Hadary, and Congolese Trésor Mputu.
Following the draw, the 48 nations will be divided into 12 groups of four teams. The winners of each group, as well as the three best runners-up, will qualify directly for the final tournament alongside the three host countries: Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The other second-placed teams will have to play two-legged playoffs to secure the final qualifying spots. Teams in Pot 1 will be seeded.
The final phase of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will bring together 24 teams and will be held from June 19 to July 17, 2027 in the three host countries.
