Coupe du monde 2026 : Colombie, Uruguay et Paraguay qualifiés, Messi fait le show
The 17th and penultimate round of qualifying in South America took place this Thursday. By beating Bolivia (3-0), Colombia secured its ticket to the World Cup. In Montevideo, Uruguay, who needed only a point to secure their ticket, defeated Peru (3-0).
The other team to qualify for the World Cup in North America is Paraguay. The Guaranis, who were held to a 0-0 home draw by Ecuador, will be in attendance.
Already qualified for several matches, Argentina, the reigning world champion, enjoyed a home victory by beating Venezuela (3-0). A fine victory marked by a double from Lionel Messi (39th, 80th).
Brazil, who also qualified in the previous rounds, confirmed their superiority by winning against Chile (3-0) thanks to Estevão (38th), Paquetá (72nd) and Bruno Guimarães (76th).
7th place, qualifying for the play-offs, will be played between Venezuela (7th, 17 pts), who host Colombia, and Bolivia (7th, 17 pts), who host Brazil.
