Coupe du Monde : le Maroc sur le point d’attirer deux binationaux, dont un d’origine sénégalaise
Having narrowly missed out on the title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations hosted on home soil, the Moroccan national football team is actively preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
With Walid Regragui's departure, his successor Mohamed Ouhabi aims to build a competitive team for the World Cup. To this end, the coaching staff is close to finalizing the signing of two dual-nationality players.
The first is Ayyoub Bouaddi. A young and talented midfielder for Lille (French Ligue 1), Bouaddi is also being courted by the French national football team, for which he has already played at the youth level. According to several French media outlets, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has already secured the player's agreement.
The other player who could join the Atlas Lions is Issa Diop. The former Toulouse FC defender, who currently plays for Fulham FC, now seems ready to represent an African country.
Indeed, the 29-year-old defender, born to a Senegalese father and a Moroccan mother, had previously stated that playing for any national team other than France was out of the question for him. This statement, at the time, sparked considerable discussion.
Today, with the prospect of playing in the World Cup, Issa Diop seems to have changed his mind.
