Coupe du monde U17 : l’Égypte rate le coche, l'Angleterre cartonne, L'Allemagne patauge
Three days after their impressive 4-1 victory against Haiti, Egypt played their second match of the tournament against Venezuela on Friday. The game ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
The young Pharaohs, who had the opportunity to secure direct qualification for the round of 16, faced a solid Venezuelan team, who quickly took the lead thanks to Marcos Maitan (18th).
In the second half, Egypt managed to equalize through Abdel Karim (54th minute). However, reduced to ten men in the 60th minute, the Egyptians were unable to score a second goal that could have propelled them into the round of 16.
In the other Group E match, England crushed Haiti (8-1). In Group G, defending champions Germany drew their second consecutive match against North Korea (1-1).
