With their backs against the wall before facing host nation Chile, Egypt put in a strong performance. The young Pharaohs managed to turn the tables on the Chileans. Carcamo had opened the scoring for Chile in the 27th minute, but in the second half, the Egyptians quickly equalized through Ahmed Abdin (47th).

Throwing all their strength into the battle, the young Pharaohs snatched victory in the dying moments thanks to a goal from Omar Khedr (90+4). Thanks to this victory (2-1), Egypt finished in third place in Group A and can still hope to qualify for the round of 16 as the best third-placed team.
