Finale Coupe arabe des nations : Le Maroc s’impose face à la Jordanie
This victory comes at the perfect time. Three days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco won the Arab Nations Cup, defeating Jordan (3-2) after extra time.
In a packed Lusail stadium in Doha, Morocco and Jordan delivered a final of very high intensity.
The Atlas Lions made a perfect start to the match, opening the scoring in the 4th minute through Oussama Tannane. This early goal allowed Morocco to go into halftime with a one-goal lead.
Upon returning from the locker room, Jordan displayed a much more attacking approach. With their first real chance, Ali Olwan leveled the score in the 48th minute. Energized by this goal, the Jordanians continued their pressure and earned a penalty in the 68th minute after a foul on Al Mardi. Ali Olwan, tasked with taking the penalty, calmly converted to give his team the lead.
Trailing in the score, Moroccan coach Sektioui decided to bring on Abdelrazak Hamdallah. A decisive choice, as the 35-year-old striker snatched an equalizer in the 87th minute, before scoring the winning goal in extra time, in the 100th minute.
Morocco has won the 11th edition of the Arab Nations Cup. Just days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, this victory boosts the confidence of the Atlas Lions ahead of the major continental tournament.
