Finales NBA : Les Knicks terrassent les Spurs dans le match 2 et s'envolent vers le titre NBA

Faced with the storm, the New York Knicks of this postseason remain unmoved.

Thanks to a thrilling 105-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2, New York extended its playoff winning streak to an astonishing 13 games, giving it a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals. The Knicks have swept the first two road games, withstanding a furious 21-5 fourth-quarter run led by Victor Wembanyama. They now prepare to return to Madison Square Garden just two wins away from a championship that has eluded them since 1973.

How do they continue to achieve this? By maintaining a collective pulse that never races, regardless of the surrounding chaos.

In the electric, raucous Frost Bank Center, the Knicks relied on the serenity and veteran composure that have defined their entire playoff run. Forward OG Anunoby, seeking his second championship ring, perfectly exemplified this ultra-focused mindset in the locker room after the game.

Asked what this 2-0 lead says about the mental strength of a group that didn't let up after the initial victory, Anunoby remained grounded: "It just shows we're resilient. We came in with the same mindset, zero-zero. It's a completely new match, we just had to show up, execute, and we left with the victory."

This "zero-zero" approach prevents the Knicks from getting carried away by their success. It's precisely what allowed them to survive Jalen Brunson's very difficult night shooting (7 for 25). When the offense faltered at the end of the game and Wembanyama threatened to completely turn the series around, New York didn't panic. They relied on their defense, locked down the boards, and let their championship-caliber instincts do the rest to cross the finish line.

With the historical weight of a 53-year drought looming larger than ever, ignoring the sudden media frenzy will be New York's biggest challenge before Game 3 this Monday. For Anunoby, the formula for cutting out the outside noise is simple.

“We just have to ignore all that. Focus on tomorrow, the next game, the next training session. Just like I said, a zero-to-zero mindset. We have to go into it with the same determination,” Anunoby insisted. “It’s simply because we know it’s not over. It’s not over until a team has four wins, so we should never be satisfied. We have to play until the very end.”

The Anglo-Nigerian talent already anticipates that the atmosphere upon returning to New York will be hectic, even crazy, but super fun and awesome.

The Knicks' eight-game road winning streak in these playoffs is largely thanks to the unwavering support of their loyal New York fans who follow them across the country. In San Antonio, the blue and orange jersey pockets frequently drowned out the home crowd's voice.

Josh Hart, whose inexhaustible energy on the court serves as an emotional barometer for the team, was keen to pay a vibrant tribute to the fans who gave Texas the feel of Manhattan and the Frost Bank Center the feel of a mini Madison Square Garden.

“Yes, it’s obviously a great environment,” Hart told us in the locker room, relishing the massive presence of Knicks fans on the road. “They come to the road and they support their team. And in the league, no other team’s fans travel as well as the Knicks’ fans. So, a big thank you to our fans for coming out to support us. It was an incredible atmosphere, and now we need them to come out and support us and make the Garden roar.”

This connection—both with their fans and within the team itself—is this team's ultimate secret weapon. They don't win solely on talent; they prevail thanks to a categorical refusal to play individualistic basketball. And to give up.

“We have a great team,” Anunoby added. “We’re really connected, and it shows on the court. It’s just a selfless team that makes the right play, whether it’s a shot, a drive, or a pass. Everyone just makes the right choice and wants to see everyone succeed.”

The Spurs are down, but judging by their fierce late-game response, they're far from finished. Yet, as the series prepares to move to the world's most famous arena, the Knicks have proven time and again that, no matter the obstacles, they always find a way to victory.

longue attente pour new York depuis 1973 avec une bonne équipe et un bon coach qui a trouve l'équilibre donc logique même si je pense les Spurs peuvent au moins avoir une victoire chez eux
