Football : décès de l’ancien international congolais Lukaku
Congolese football is in mourning. Roger Lukaku, former Congolese international and father of Romelu and Jordan Lukaku, died this Sunday at the age of 58. Arriving in Belgium in 1990, he played for Boom, Seraing, and Germinal Ekeren, then spent a brief spell in Turkey before returning to Mechelen and Ostend. He finished his career in the lower divisions. The former Daring Club Motema Pembe and Africa Sports player of Abidjan, who scored 47 goals in 135 Belgian first division matches, was capped 11 times by DR Congo, participating in the 1996 African Cup of Nations in South Africa, where he scored against Liberia (2-0). In recent years, he has resurfaced in the media thanks to his sons' careers, even if their relationship has become somewhat strained.
