France-Côte d’Ivoire : La réaction du sélectionneur Emerse Fae après la défaite infligée aux Bleus
A historic victory for the Ivory Coast Elephants. Coach Emerse Faé's men defeated France 2-1 in a friendly match yesterday, Thursday, June 4th, at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes. They had never before achieved such a feat against the 2018 World Cup champions.
In the post-match press conference, Emerse Faé expressed his satisfaction. For him, beating a team like France boosts morale, but it's important to stay grounded.
"Just because we beat France tonight doesn't mean it will give us extra points to get through the first round."
“Winning against a team like France is also good for morale. We’ll take it, but then we’re not going to get carried away. Just because we beat France tonight doesn’t mean it’s going to give us extra points to get through the first round (of the World Cup),” said the Ivorian coach.
He was also pleased with the mindset of his players, especially in the second half.
“The positive thing is the team’s mindset. It’s the fact that we came out in the second half with a better attitude. When you’re under pressure from the French team, it’s not easy. You can easily give up. We continued to believe, despite conceding a goal just before halftime, and we were able to come back, with mental strength, and win this match,” said the former Ivory Coast international.
Let us remember that for this American World Cup, Ivory Coast will have Germany, Ecuador and Curaçao as clients.
