Grande parade à Rabat pour célébrer la victoire du Maroc au Mondial U20

Several thousand people gathered in Rabat on Wednesday to celebrate the Moroccan team's victory at the Under-20 World Cup, waving as the Atlas Lions' bus passed by, surrounded by jubilant families to the sound of vuvuzelas.

Throughout the procession through the city, a dense crowd of supporters dressed in red and green waved Moroccan flags, while the more daring climbed onto rooftops to catch a glimpse of the players parading on a double-decker bus.

Before the parade, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan of Morocco presided over a ceremony at the royal palace in honor of the team members.

"It's an achievement, they filled us with joy and waved our country's flag high," Youssef, a 34-year-old salesman, enthused to AFP.

From her balcony, Claire Gallouin, a 19-year-old French student, filmed the scene. "I'd never seen so many people in Rabat," she said. "I realized how much Moroccans love football."

In Chile, the young Moroccans won 2-0 against the favorites Argentina in Santiago on Sunday night, led by a brace from Yassir Zabiri (12th, 29th). A historic victory for Moroccan and Arab football.

"The future of our football is in good hands. Well done guys, U20 world champions!" Achraf Hakimi, the defender for Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team, a semi-finalist in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, said on X on Monday.

Marcoc will host the African Cup of Nations at the end of the year and will co-host the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
