"Il a mis tout son argent pour essayer de jouer avec la France" : Le sélectionneur du Cameroun fracasse Ekitike
Cameroon coach Marc Brys was not kind to Hugo Ekitike at a press conference on Friday, slamming the Indomitable Lions' door on the Franco-Cameroonian. The latter was expected to join Les Bleus after his successful debut with Liverpool, but was not included in Didier Deschamps' latest squad list.

The message is clear. Marc Brys closed the door on Hugo Ekitike joining the Indomitable Lions at a press conference on Friday. On the sidelines of his announcement of the Cameroonians selected for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, the Cameroon coach was questioned about the absence of the 23-year-old striker, who has dual French-Cameroonian nationality.
"I haven't contacted him. He put all his money into trying to play for France and he didn't succeed. And now we, Cameroon, are his second choice? I don't need to be a second choice," Brys said, without filter.
The Belgian then explained that he needed "good players who play with heart" rather than "a star who thinks he can come to this country or another." "He's a good player, that's not the issue. In the situation I described, he doesn't deserve to come here," he continued.
