Koulibaly après son rouge : « Le plus important, c’est que le Sénégal avance »
Despite being sent off during the match, Kalidou Koulibaly delivered a full reaction after Senegal qualified in first place in the group, an objective assumed from the start.
“It’s true we received a red card, but for my 100th cap, I think the best gift was given to me by the players: qualifying in first place,” said the Lions’ captain. “It was an objective from the start. Some started to doubt themselves after a draw against a great Congolese team, which is a shame, because Congo will achieve great things in this competition.”
Satisfied with the match and the team's attitude, Koulibaly wanted to thank the entire group:
"We're happy to have played this match and to have won. I thank the players, the coach and all the staff for this victory. Despite my sending-off, I think we maintained control of the match. We showed some good things and a lot of character."
The central defender also calmly addressed his red card, recalling a similar situation he had experienced in the past:
"It had already happened against Tunisia in the semi-final, a yellow card that prevented me from playing in the final in 2019. Today, I am calm, because I know that we have 28 players capable of playing at any time."
For Kalidou Koulibaly, the main strength of this team lies above all in its unity:
"If you're not united, when you get a red card, the team falls apart. Here, we saw calm and composure despite my expulsion. We already saw it against Congo: we conceded a goal, we stayed calm and we equalized quickly."
Emphasizing the group's values, the captain concluded with a strong message:
"It's about humility, being together, running for each other. We know the Senegal jersey is a heavy burden to bear. We can't afford to be selfish. Today, we showed that the most important thing is to be a team. And Senegal proved it."

Coulibaly n'a pas d'excuses, il est souvent pris de vitesse et sa réaction est d'utiliser la force, ce qui n'est pas mal à condition de la gérer et de ne pas faire de faute. Cette fois-ci, il n'a pas joué le ballon, c'est un geste de Navetane qu'on ne doit pas voir dans le haut niveau. Nous avons la défense la plus lente et qui n'anticipe jamais les actions. De plus, le repli défensif du reste des joueurs ne se fait jamais ou se fait très en retard sauf aujourd'hui.
Maintenant, il faudrait beaucoup de détermination pour continuer le parcours. Tout le monde attaque et tout le monde défend intelligemment sans faire de faute. Quand on défend, soit on se jette, soit on se fait fait balader parce qu'on a une mauvaise lecture défensive.
Les choses ne vont pas être faciles.
