"Le football en Afrique est vraiment étrange" : Le Maroc visé, Hafid Derradji réagit aux sanctions de la CAF
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed sanctions on Senegal and Morocco following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, which was marred by several incidents. Hafid Derradji, a renowned Algerian commentator formerly with BeIN Sports and now with Al Jazeera, criticized the governing body for sanctioning Morocco, despite having previously named them the most sportsmanlike team in the competition.
"Football in Africa is really strange… A national team wins the fair play award, then they are punished for not respecting the rules of fair play!", he wrote on his X page, which has 3.4 million subscribers.
The commentator also denounced the heavy fines imposed on Senegal and Morocco. "The governing body of football, incapable of managing a chaotic final, emerges victorious from the controversy and rakes in over a million dollars in revenue from the fines. It's as if chaos were a project and mistakes an investment. Even throwing dust in people's eyes... has a price on the continent of paradoxes, wonders, and oddities," Derradji concluded.

Presque toutes les equipes SAUF LE MAROC s'etaient senties lesees parfois de maniere tres flagrantes au vue et au sue du MONDE ENTIER. AUJOURDHUI la CAF ET LA FIFA SANCTIONNENT MAIS HONNETEMENT ELLES SONT TOUT AUSSI COUPABLES QUE LE MAROC . Et DE GRACE epargnez - de cette DECISION RIDICULE ; INNOPORTUNE ET CONTRE PRODUCTIVE DE RAMENER LA UNE FOIS TOUS LES QUATRES ( 4 ) ANS .
