Libération des supporters sénégalais détenus au Maroc : La réaction de Gana Guèye
Idrissa Gana Gueye, the midfielder for the Lions of Teranga, reacted to the release of the Senegalese supporters who had been detained in Morocco. In a post on his Instagram account, the Senegalese international expressed his "relief" and "gratitude" after this positive outcome.
In his statement, the player expressed his gratitude to the Moroccan authorities and His Majesty King Mohammed VI for what he described as a gesture "imbued with humanity, wisdom, and appeasement." He believes this decision demonstrates the strength of the historical and fraternal relations between Senegal and Morocco.
Idrissa Gana Gueye also emphasized that football, despite the emotions it evokes, must remain a space for respect, fraternity, and bringing African peoples closer together. He was particularly pleased with the upcoming return of fans to their families, as the Tabaski festival approaches.
The Everton player also praised the efforts undertaken, "discreetly and responsibly," by the Senegalese and Moroccan authorities to reach a favorable solution. Concluding his message on a note of unity, Gana Gueye emphasized the deep ties that bind the two countries through history, faith, and culture, believing that this ordeal should serve as a reminder that "what unites us will always be stronger than what divides us."
