Ligue 1 sénégalaise : Le coup d’envoi de la saison reporté d’une semaine
The start of the Senegalese professional championship, initially scheduled for October 25 and 26, 2025, will ultimately not take place on that date. In an official statement, the Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) announced the postponement of the start of the 2025-2026 season to the weekend of November 1 and 2, 2025.
According to the body headed by Babacar Ndiaye, this decision is motivated by two major events which coincide with the date initially chosen: the installation of the new Executive Committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), scheduled for October 25, and the official visit of a FIFA delegation to Senegal during the same period.
Despite this slight delay, the LSFP specifies that the championship schedule remains unchanged, with the exception of the one-week postponement. Preparatory activities already scheduled will continue. These include training for security officers and match commissioners, as well as the presentation of the official anthem and the launch of the League's mobile app, innovations designed to modernize the competition.
However, the season launch press conference is now set for October 30, 2025, a few days before the first kick-off.
