Ligue 2 played its 16th matchday this weekend, marked by a change at the top of the standings and a tragedy in Kaolack.

By beating Port (1-0), Diambars FC (1st, 25 pts) took advantage of the draw of AS Douanes (2nd, 25 pts), held by the Guelewaars of Fatick (0-0), to seize first place thanks to a better goal difference.

Still near the top of the table, Essamaye FC of Ziguinchor secured their third consecutive victory with a 3-0 win away at AS Kaffrine. This resounding victory lifts Essamaye FC to 3rd place with 23 points.

Fourth in the standings (23 pts), Jamono Fatick was held to a draw at home by Niary Tally (0-0).

At the Lamine Guèye Stadium in Kaolack, the match between AS Saloum and Amitié FC ended in tragedy. After the final whistle, AS Saloum striker Youssouf Diouf collapsed and died, plunging the Kaolack club and Senegalese football into mourning. Just a few months after the death of US Ouakam captain Fadiouf Ndiaye, Senegalese football has suffered another tragedy.

At the HLM municipal stadium, DUC dominated AS Bambey (3-2) thanks to a hat trick from Mansour Sidy Gaye.

At the Alboury Ndiaye stadium in Louga, Ndiambour defeated Oslo FA (3-0). A valuable victory that allows the Louga team (11th, 18 pts) to move further away from the relegation zone.

Thiès FC (14th, 17 pts), the first team not in the relegation zone, earned a valuable point from their trip to Teranga SC (0-0).
