Manchester City n’avance plus, Chelsea continue de couler
Manchester City lost more valuable points in the title race on Wednesday night, while Chelsea lost before Liam Rosenior took over.
The Citizens might well regret it. On Wednesday evening, during the 21st matchday of the Premier League, Pep Guardiola's men conceded a third consecutive draw (1-1).
After Erling Haaland opened the scoring from the penalty spot just before halftime (41st minute), Manchester United were pegged back on the hour mark by Mitoma (60th minute). Rayan Cherki, who started on the bench, came on for Phil Foden for the final 20 minutes but failed to make an impact.
Manchester City have suffered a major setback in the title race. They now see league leaders Arsenal maintain their five-point advantage before hosting Liverpool on Thursday night.
Chelsea, meanwhile, extended their winless streak to five matches. Worse still, the Blues, who are awaiting Liam Rosenior's return after sidelining Enzo Maresca, were defeated by their neighbors, Fulham (2-1). Reduced to ten men in the 22nd minute following Cucurella's dismissal, the Stamford Bridge side finally succumbed late in the game to a goal from Harry Wilson (81st minute).
Meanwhile, Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace, Tottenham suffered a 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth, while Brentford continued their impressive run with a 3-0 victory over Sunderland. Finally, Everton and Wolverhampton played to a draw.
