Marseille : Roberto De Zerbi s’en va
The adventure between Roberto De Zerbi and Olympique de Marseille has come to an end. The day after their heavy defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (5-0), the Marseille club officially announced, overnight, the amicable separation from their Italian coach.
This decision was finalized following a consultation meeting between owner Frank McCourt, president Pablo Longoria, sporting director Medhi Benatia, and the Marseille coach. The various parties felt it necessary to make a change at the helm of the first team in order to meet the sporting objectives set for the end of the season.
Having arrived at the helm of Olympique de Marseille with high ambitions, Roberto De Zerbi is leaving the club after a spell marked by a second-place finish in the 2024-2025 season. In its statement, OM praised the 46-year-old manager's dedication, professionalism, and commitment, while wishing him every success in his future endeavors.
Now, the Marseille management must focus on the question of his succession, just weeks before crucial matches in Ligue 1.
