While national teams like Senegal and Morocco are being courted by major nations for friendly matches, others struggle to find a sparring partner during FIFA international windows. Some even go so far as to spend significant sums to face a top team. This is the case with Angola.
Indeed, the Palancas Negras will host Argentina on November 14th in a prestigious friendly match, organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's independence. But this dream match against the reigning world champions comes at a price.
According to Sport News Africa, the Angolan Football Federation will spend nearly €12 million to organize this match. This amount is considered very high, especially since it has reportedly been increased due to the presence of Lionel Messi, which is expected to fill the November 11 Stadium.
Although this match has symbolic importance for Angolans, many observers believe the cost remains excessive.
