Meilleur lutteur sans frappe : Ngagne Sène affiche ses ambitions « Je veux maintenant m’imposer dans la lutte avec frappe »
Ngagne Sène, a wrestler from the Kay Bakh stable in Rufisque, was crowned best wrestler of the 2024-2025 season in the no-striking style by the National Association of Sports Press (ANPS). The young wrestler, originally from Ndiaganiao, won the Abdourahmane Ndiaye "Falang" trophy handily, beating the formidable Siny Sembène.
Having had a remarkable season, the African champion in both individual and team traditional wrestling established himself as the benchmark of the year with 10 final wins and only 2 losses. This exceptional performance allowed him to succeed General Malika, the previous year's winner.
Despite this great distinction, Ngagne Sène does not want to stop there.
"My goal is to do more than my elders who have already won this prestigious trophy," said the powerful 120kg wrestler.
For the next stage of his career, the captain of the national wrestling team sees his future in wrestling with striking.
“I have nothing left to prove in traditional wrestling. Now, I want to make my mark in wrestling with striking, where I dream of becoming King of the Arena. I have the qualities to succeed. With our experience in traditional wrestling, we have more technical skills and advantages than many wrestlers in the arena. That's why I'm sure I can achieve great things in wrestling with striking. In fact, Baye Ndiaye has offered me opponents, and we are in discussions for a fight,” said Ngagne Sène.
Even though wrestling with striking is a world of its own, the young wrestler from Ndiaganiao has already shown, in the space of a year, that he possesses the necessary qualities to make a name for himself in the Senegalese arena.
