Mercato : Chelsea veut El Hadji Malick Diouf
Lions of Teranga left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf is making waves in the transfer market. Signed last summer from Slavia Prague for €22 million (over 14 billion CFA francs), the African champion has seen his stock rise after a particularly impressive first Premier League season. His statistics speak for themselves: with 5 assists in 23 appearances and 98 defensive duels won, the young Senegalese has accumulated nearly 2,000 minutes of playing time, establishing himself as one of West Ham United's key players despite the club's overall struggles.
This meteoric rise has not gone unnoticed by Chelsea FC scouts. According to Chelseanews, as reported by Walfadjri, the Blues are seriously considering the 21-year-old defender to bolster their left flank. A strategic move could facilitate this transfer: a partial swap involving Frenchman Axel Disasi. Currently on loan from Chelsea to West Ham, where his performances have been deemed satisfactory, Disasi could be made permanent in the deal to reduce Diouf's transfer fee.
Aware of the growing interest from the league's top clubs and facing the risk of relegation to the Championship, West Ham's management is already working to prepare for life after Diouf. The London club has reportedly targeted FC Utrecht's full-back, Souffian El Karouani (Dutch first division), as a potential successor.
