Mondial 2026 : les prix des billets explosent à la revente
Ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup have skyrocketed on FIFA's official resale platform.
Tickets for many matches are being offered at several times their face value, even though most of the tickets were only distributed recently, after the main sales phase ended in January.
A few weeks ago, FIFA President Gianni Infantino warned that tickets put on sale on resale sites risked reaching exorbitant prices; fears that have now materialized on the global football platform.
On Wednesday, a highly sought-after "category three" seat for the tournament's opening match between Mexico and South Africa, to be held on June 11 at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium, was being offered at $5,324, compared to an initial price of $895.
A Category 3 seat for the World Cup final on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, was offered for sale at the exorbitant price of $143,750, more than 41 times its original face value of $3,450.
The cheapest ticket available for the final on the resale site was offered at $9,775.
In a few rare cases, however, some prices have actually decreased. A ticket for the group stage game between Austria and Jordan at Levi's Stadium in California, which hosted the Super Bowl on Sunday, is being offered at $552, whereas it originally cost its buyer $620.
For football fans around the world, some of the prices listed on FIFA's resale site confirm what they have been denouncing since the tournament draw in December.
