Mondial U17 : Kalidou Koulibaly débarque au Qatar avec un puissant message pour les Lionceaux
Senegal's U17 team will begin their World Cup campaign this Monday at 1 p.m. against Croatia. The Young Lions will play in Group C alongside Costa Rica, the United Arab Emirates, and Croatia.
On Sunday, the day before their baptism of fire, the African champions received significant support. The captain of the Lions A, Kalidou Koulibaly, who plays in Saudi Arabia (Al-Hilal), visited them in Doha, the Qatari capital, bearing a message of support.
"Today, you will be competing in the biggest competition for your age group, and believe me, there is nothing comparable," said the central defender during the presentation of the flag to the protégés of Pape Ibrahima Faye, the coach, by the ambassador of Senegal, in the presence of the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall.
Koulibaly continued: "Everyone is counting on you to go as far as possible. I know you are capable of great things. You form a group with many qualities. I would like to be in your place because I only got my first call-up at 23, while you, at 17, are already playing for your country, it's exceptional!"
The Lions' captain added: "Don't fear anyone. Play your football, trust your coaching staff. Start well tomorrow [today], and the rest will follow. I hope you make the country proud."
