"Nemékou tour" : Les Ziguinchorois ont accueilli avec ferveur le trophée de la CAN
The Africa Cup of Nations trophy, won last January in Morocco by Senegal, was presented to the people of Ziguinchor. After a tour of the governor's office, the departmental council, and the town hall, among other places, the trophy was paraded through several streets of the city, the strongholds of the African champion Lions, Krépin Diatta and Nicolas Jackson, before arriving at the Aline Sitoé Diatta stadium.
Members of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), led by President Abdoulaye Fall and accompanied by national coach Pape Thiaw, celebrated with administrative, civil and military authorities and other dignitaries, along with the local population, around this championship trophy.
This 2025 Africa Cup of Nations victory, won by the Lions, embodies Senegalese bravery and values, according to the deputy governor in charge of development. These values should inspire every citizen in their respective field. "We want every young person to be a lion in their sector. At school, in agriculture, livestock farming, fishing, every young person must be a champion, a lion, in order to convey and promote all these values," he declared.
