Nouvel élan pour le Sénégal à la CAN 2025 : L’héritage de 2019 et 2022 comme moteur de motivation
As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicked off yesterday, the Lions of Teranga are preparing to face the challenges of the competition, buoyed by the memory of the incredible moments of popular support experienced in front of their home crowd. "It was something indescribable," recalls captain Kalidou Koulibaly. "During our last training session in Dakar, the coach surprised us by training in the magnificent Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium, in front of 60,000 spectators. It was an unforgettable moment for us."
These emotions, already experienced after the 2019 final and the historic victory in 2022, remain an inexhaustible source of motivation. "I hope to relive that same moment after this edition, God willing. For those playing in their first AFCON, it's an experience that profoundly marks them and inspires them to give their all on the pitch."
The captain emphasized the importance of respecting opponents while playing for the Senegalese people: "What happened in this stadium represents only 10% of what will happen if we succeed in bringing this cup back to Senegal. We must respect all our opponents—whether it's Botswana, Congo, Benin, or anyone else who stands in our way—while imposing our style of play."
Finally, he addressed a heartfelt message to the fans: "Thank you to everyone who came to the stadium. I hope the entire Senegalese people will be behind us until the end of this adventure."
