OM: "C'EST CHACUN POUR SA GUEULE DANS CE CLUB", DUPRAZ POINTE LA COMMUNICATION DE BENATIA
Present at the Grandes Gueules du Sport on RMC this Sunday, Pascal Dupraz criticized Medhi Benatia's comments following OM's defeat against Lorient this Saturday (2-0) in Ligue 1.
Medhi Benatia unleashed a tirade after OM's 2-0 defeat to Lorient on Saturday. The angry sporting director called his team's performance a "scandal," questioning the players' mentality. During the Grandes Gueules du Sport program on RMC on Sunday, Pascal Dupraz criticized the former defender's communication.
"When you listen to Benatia, you can't help but get the feeling that it's every man for himself at this club," lamented the pundit. "It's truly unbearable. Benatia isn't blameless either. He also has his responsibilities. And now, after that disastrous match in Lorient, Benatia is tearing the players apart in front of the press. Can't he do that this Sunday morning at the training ground?"
"It's easy to shoot the players."
Facing the journalists, Benatia gave a lengthy interview highlighting the players' performance. "When you come here, with five finals to play (the last five matchdays, ed.) for a Champions League spot, it should show, but it doesn't," the manager stated. Before addressing a journalist: "In your opinion, how many people came into the locker room and trashed the table? Zero, nobody. Everything's spotless, the bottles are in their proper place, all that. So basically, you play for Olympique de Marseille, you have a match like that, and you accept it?"
This statement clearly didn't sit well with Pascal Dupraz, who also took the opportunity to criticize Habib Beye. "It's tiresome, coming from a former experienced player," the former Toulouse coach continued, referring to Benatia. "It's easy to attack players. He said Lorient had nothing left to play for. But where's the respect for Ligue 1 clubs? Do you really think that just because Lorient had nothing to play for—and had only lost one home game since the start of the season—they were easy prey for OM? It's too easy to talk like that."
Lorient 2-0 OM: "Every man for himself," Dupraz criticizes Benatia (and doesn't spare Beye either)
"He endangered OM and Beye," Benatia also held responsible for the Marseille disaster
Fourth in Ligue 1 after 30 matchdays, Marseille are now under threat from Lyon and Rennes, who travel to face PSG and Strasbourg respectively this Sunday. The Olympians currently remain two points behind Lille, who sit third. Next Sunday, Marseille will return to the Vélodrome to host Nice.
